My name is Jessi and I’m a self-professed nerd.
My love affair with books started many, many years ago on Fear Street with R. L. Stine and quickly graduated to Stephen King. I’m not a genre-snob. I’ll read just about anything, especially if it’s the only thing available to me at the time. (Here’s to you poli-sci, non-fiction book found in my brother’s bathroom.)
When I was a kid, my home was filled with Harlequin romance novels. They were everywhere. My mom would buy them in boxes from the used bookstore and positively consume them. It wasn’t long before I began to explore those as well. I could pick one up and read it in just a few hours.
To this day, my early choices have shaped me, and I still love Horror and Romance. (Not usually in tandem.) I read anywhere between two and four books per week, and I love to share my opinions of them.
I’m a mom of a grown son and another almost-grown son. I’ve been with my husband for 23 years. We’re dog people. I love Taylor Swift. I love Marvel and Supernatural. I proudly ship Stucky and Destiel. I’m a full-time professional, but prefer to spend all of my free time lost in other worlds, be they literary or theatrical.
A couple of my favorite book series are the Stephanie Plum series, by Janet Evanovich, the True Blood series, by Charlaine Harris, the Prey series, by John Sandford, the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, by J. R. Ward, and, of course, the Harry Potter series, by the dreaded J. K. Rowling.
My list of favorites stand-alones includes To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, The Stand, by Stephen King, The Host, by Stephanie Meyer, and The Help, by Kathryn Stockett.
Let’s get together and talk books!
