This book was one of my top reads of 2024, not for the writing style, but because of the story. Let’s start with what I didn’t like, and then we will delve into why I love this book so much.
The writing, and really the grammar, in this book are lacking professionalism. You could say it is unpolished, I guess. So, if that is a hard limit this book might not be for you. This, in my opinion, is the only drawback of this book.
What I loved about this book is the journey we went on throughout the story. Estrella and Caelum were surviving throughout this book and I was here for it. The spicy scenes in this book were on point. The world-building in this book is mild and easy to follow. For first time fantasy readers, it would be an easy dip of the toes to get your feet wet. That appeals to me.
Let’s talk about the spicy scenes, because we are here for the spice! So, it is not the spiciest book, no, but it has some mild to medium scenes. There is a scene in a grotto that is still going through my mind.
All in all, this is a very good starter fantasy book series that is a super easy and quick read. Could it use a little polishing around the edges? Yes, but what diamond doesn’t.
