Review by Emily

This was the first Grady Hendrix novel that I read and boy, it did not disappoint. In this book, we are introduced to a group of six women who were “final girls” and, shockingly as the title indicates, they are part of a support group that has been meeting for quite some time. When the girls start getting murdered, the most reclusive of the group, Lynette, is the first one who realizes that someone is targeting the girls. The only problem is that none of them believe her until it’s too late.
This book grabs your interest from the first sentence. Grady Hendrix just has an engaging way of writing. I enjoyed how fleshed out the characters in this book were. One thing I enjoyed about the layout Hendrix opted for with this book was the chapters had “articles” or other blurbs about the final girls and their movies or the crimes that made them lost girls. To me that helped Hendrix flesh out the backstories of so many different characters whose stories the reader is dying to know, while also keeping his novel a manageable size. One of my favorite (and morbid) aspects of this book was the desire to find out what happened to these girls that Hendrix managed to instill. When I say the suspense was killing me, y’all. I had to know. There were overall so many twists and turns to this novel that I read it in like two days (which is impressive considering I have a one-year-old).
Anyway, if you like thrillers or mystery books I think you’d like this one. I also think you’d probably like it if you had an interest in true crime as well as there were certain aspects of the book where Hendrix sort of thumbed his nose at true crime junkies. As a true crime junkie myself I just had to laugh because sometimes it was hilariously accurate. So, what are you waiting for? GO READ THIS BOOK!!
