By: Liv Zanders (Court of Ravens)

This book is following Galantia, a princess living in a town called Tidestone that is at near-constant war with Ravens. Ravens are magical people that are ruthless, uncouth barbarians and killers. She is kept behind her walls, always being watched and under control because she is the only child of the queen and king of Tidestone. Her mother is unable to produce a male heir, or any other child for that matter. They keep dying right after they are born. So Galantia is raised, protected and sheltered, but a burden to her parents. Her father has no time for her because she is a female and of no use to him. Her mother has no feelings for her at all and never is around her. She finally becomes of an age where her father can marry her off to another Lord for an alliance against the Ravens. On her way to her new home Galantia’s carriage is ambushed and she is taken captive by the very group that her people despise.
Sebian captures Galantia to take her back to his king, Malyr, and his seer Asker, because she is important but they do not know she is the kings daughter, the same king that captured and tortured Malyr and killed his brother,’s daughter. When they find out her identity they decide to take all of their revenge out on her!
This is a 4 star read. I love the characters, the world building and the right amount of spice. Malyr is a deeply tortured soul that lashes out at anything that touches him, and Sebian is a kind and loving soul with some darkness that is hiding there as well. Galantia is a very smart but naive girl who people think is a spoiled princess but turns out she was a prisoner of sorts herself. This is a 2 book series and does end on a wonderful cliffhanger that left me speechless. This is a dark book so check your triggers!
