Welcome to your crash course on what makes the coolest book club tick! If you’re interested in reading our book club reviews I thought you might also like to know how our club functions because it is NOT your standard book club.
How do we choose our bookclub books?
Each of us select four books which we think would be great fits for book club and we send them in our bookclub chat. After which, each member of bookclub is allowed to veto one book that the others have picked. In order to keep it fair we also may only vote to veto one book from each persons list, so for example we can’t all veto one individuals list. Once someones book has been vetoed we cannot reuse that book as a potential book club book. After the veto round, Jessi adds our books to a wheel and we spin to see who’s book wins!
Do you have monthly book club meetings?
No! After our book is selected we determine a middle point in the book where all of us will read to and then stop. Once everyone has reached that point we get together and chat about what we’ve read so far, what we think of the character, settings, plots, etc. This is when we make our predictions about what we think the second half of the book will be like. This allows us to discuss what’s happened while its still fresh in our mind compared to the standard once a month book club.
Do you discuss the book amongst yourselves between clubs?
No! We can allude to something we’ve read using vague GIFs or texts, but we DO NOT discuss the book until the meeting.
We hope that you’ll follow along with us here and if you read the book, please drop your thoughts in the comments on our blogs!
