Hi y’all!

My name is Emily. I’m a Mama to a beautiful baby girl, a wife to the love of my life, and a bibliophile. For me, nothing is better than waking up in the morning and enjoying a few hours of reading while I have my morning coffee. I love trying new creative things and my current new hobby is making clay jewelry.
Until February of this year, I worked as a librarian, which was pretty close to my dream job. But, when my husband got a promotion and I was able to become a stay home mom I jumped at that opportunity. One of my favorite aspects of working as a librarian was RA or Reader’s Advisory. If you’re not familiar with what that means, it’s basically book recommendations, compiling reading lists, or in the library setting making book displays. Nothing was more fulfilling to me than seeing what my patrons were enjoying and recommending other books they might enjoy. Which is part of what led me here.
I was the last to join the Textual Relations book club that Stephanie, Melissa, and Jessi started and I had to request to join. But since I read a little bit of everything they let me in. From thriller/suspense, romance, true crime, historical nonfiction, historical fiction, YA, and everything in between there are few genres that I haven’t tested the waters of. I try to finish anything I start reading, but more recently I’ve decided some things can be added to the DNF (did not finish) pile because why waste time forcing myself to read something that’s poorly written and sucks?
Some of my favorite books are Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, the Harry Potter series (Prisoner of Azkaban is the best of the series, fight me about it), just about anything by Ruth Ware, and Fairytale by Stephen King.
I have never read anything in a book that has been so horrific that I have had to put it down. I hate myself when reading anything mystery/thriller because more often than not I can guess the big reveal and then I’m left feeling disappointed that I figured it out and wasn’t shocked. I don’t really have anything that just grosses me out when reading “romance” if you get my drift, but I love a good tease.
If you’ve stuck with me this far, thanks! I’m excited to go on this reading journey with you!
